The Proposal

Jeff proposed on February 3, 2012 and this is how it happened....

Leading up to February, we had a number of holidays and meaningful dates that I kept thinking "It's today! He has to propose today!". Not many people know this, but we had been hunting for the perfect ring for months. We started the search in July and finally found the one in September after returning from Jill's bachelorette party. We didn't end up finding the right diamond until December. He felt so much pressure to pop the question that he ordered the diamond while I was in the room. Meanwhile, I am faking being calm and texting Paige furiously "Is this really happening? I can't believe he did that in front of me!". Even though I was involved in the process, I still wanted the engagement to be a surprise!

So back to February 3rd.... Paige was in town for the weekend. I think deep down I knew it was that night. Everyone had been acting so weird all day like when Mom called to ask if I learned anything fun at work and promptly ending the phone call. Then, as I am leaving for Paige's house, she calls in the nick of time to ask me to pick up some mixers for the drinks. How ironic but at this time I am in such denial that I am not suspicious. There were so many signs that I just didn't want to pick up on. To name a few: 1. Katie Perry beat me to the dinner party. 2. Melissa, my roommate, was hiding from me in the kitchen and not making eye contact. 3. Everyone kept telling me how cute I looked even though I was exhausted and haggard from a long day. Looking back, I definitely should have known but the romantic in me wanted to ignore these signs that were so obvious.

We are patiently awaiting dinnertime and the girls decide they would like to watch some YouTube videos. Man were they determined to watch these videos, I kept thinking to myself. After some technical difficulty, we have internet connection! A couple of videos later, Christine slyly mentions that she thought Liz had been planning on doing a wedding blog and Liz brings up her future wedding blog: http://sunsetsandruffles.com.  I see the first post, "Courtney + Jeff (coming soon)" and a wave of so many emotions come over me. She clicks on it and it leads to the site that Jeff and Liz made together:  http://courtneywillyoumarry.me. The site speaks for itself (click on it to see all 3 pages). Go figure that I didn't bring my glasses and they make me read! It still hadn't hit me yet when he walked in the room. When he got down on one knee, that was the "this is it!" moment that I had imagined a million times. He did it. He successfully surprised me.

Thank you to everyone that was a part of this special day (and keeping it a secret from me)! We can't wait to celebrate with you!
